Definition

The Promotion Planning Desktop is the primary tool for editing promotions in Demand Planning.

Use

You use the Promotion Planning Desktop to design promotions and enter data.

Structure

The promotion planning desktop contains the following elements:

·        On the left, a selector with a shuffler from which you can select the planning objects, selection IDs and data view with which you want to work. You use the selector in the same way as in interactive demand planning (see Structure linkInteractive Demand Planning Desktop).

·        On the top right, the promotion planning workspace with a toolbar. The workspace contains a table. The appearance of the table depends on which object view (see Editing Promotion Planning Data) is chosen . To be able to change the object view, select one promotion.
This is where you enter values, such as amounts or costs for the promotion.

·        On the bottom right, a series of tabstrips. You can change the administrative data for a promotion on these tab pages. Examples of information that you can change here are the key figures and the periods for a promotion.

Note

When you create a new promotion the same information is presented on one screen; the tab pages are displayed as subscreens below one another. Since no planning data exists at this stage, this gives you a better overview of the whole promotion.

When you load a promotion, the top toolbar contains the following icons and push-buttons:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Highlight Incomplete

Check if characteristic combinations are missing. In general this means that you have assigned a higher level characteristic but have not assigned a value at promotion level.
The line with the missing combination is highlighted in red. You then have the option of completing the combination, deleting the incomplete combination, or tuning the highlighting off.

Other Functions

Several functions from normal interactive planning are also available in promotion planning. You can, for example:

·        Switch columns and rows

·        Change units of measure

See also: Structure linkToggling Between Units

·        Use pivot sorting

See also: Structure linkFunctions in Interactive Demand Planning

Other functions from interactive planning, such as the graphic or saving the navigation path are not applicable to promotion planning.
