Use

S&DP administration provides various functions with which you can make settings for the planning area.

Features

You can change a planning area as long as there are no time series and the planning area has not been initialized. If there is one or more time series for the planning area, the system enters planning area maintenance in display mode. You can still use several features, such as data extraction, in change mode.

Planning Area Check

In change or display mode you can start a check for the planning area. This check is less extensive than the full consistency check. The system checks

·        the consistency of the database entries

·        that the planning object structure is valid

·        the number of key figures

No log is created. The check stops as soon as the first message is issued. To start the check, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Functions available under the Goto Menu

Selection Management

This function refers to the selections used in forecasting. For more details, see Structure linkSelections in Forecasting. This function is not to be confused with selection organization as can be accessed from the SAP Easy Access screen (see Structure linkSelection Management).

Go to Master Planning Object Structure

By choosing Goto ® Master Planning Object Structure you can go directly to the master planning object on which the planning area is based. If the master planning object has been deactivated, it is possible to change it, otherwise the system switches to Display mode.

A similar function lets you go from a master planning object structure to its dependent planning areas. 

Go to Linked Planning Books

By choosing Goto ® Linked Planning Books you can start interactive planning for planning books in the planning area. If there is more than one planning book for the planning area, a dialog box appears where you can choose a planning book.

Notes Overview

Here you can call up the notes overview for the planning area. See Structure linkNotes Management.

Transport Connection

Use this function to transport the planning area, planning books, selections, and so on to other systems. For more information see the IMG documentation for Demand Planning (DP) under Basic Settings ®Maintain Manual Transport Link for DP/SNP and the SAP Note 637027.

Functions available under the Extras Menu

Key Figure Settings

Here you can change the properties of the key figures of a planning area, if the planning area has already been initialized. You can also add or delete key figures. However, you can only delete key figures that are no longer used in planning books, data views, macros, or demand forecasts. You can find out in which objects a specific key figure is used with the where-used list.

Caution

Only experienced users should be allowed to delete key figures or change key figure properties in initialized planning areas. If you make changes here, the time series objects have to be adjusted directly in liveCache and in the database. Since these changes are time-consuming, we recommend that you make the changes to key figure properties in the background.

Forecast Settings

It is possible to use several key figures for the forecast. You can use this function to specify which key figures contain the other information required for forecasting in Demand Planning.

You can specify key figures for the followings functions:

·        Corrected history

·        Corrected forecast

·        Ex-post forecast

·        Ex-post multi-linear regression

and assign them to a forecast key figure.

Use of this function is optional. However, if you do not enter a key figure in one of these fields, you cannot save this information. It is possible to create several combinations for one planning area, but each key figure can only be used once. Parallel Processing for Initialization

You can define the technical system settings for the parallel processing of planning book initialization. You can specify the number of characteristic value combinations in a block, the minimum number of combinations to initiate parallel processing, and the maximum number of parallel processes. For more information, see the F1 help for the relevant fields. Choose Settings ® Parallel Processing of Initialization.

Export Data Source

You can also generate an export data source to transfer data from the planning area to an InfoCube, see for example, Structure linkExtracting Data from a Planning Area.

You can also access several tools for use with data extraction. For more details, see Structure linkTools for Extraction from Planning Areas.

Consistency Checks

You can start consistency checks for notes, selections, and dependent planning books. For more information, see Consistency Checks for Planning Areas.

Activities

If you want to change a planning area, from the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Demand Planning ® Environment ® Administration of Demand Planning and Supply Network Planning. Select a planning area and in the context menu choose Change.
