Select Items By

Filters to be included in the forecast.

You may filter items by Item, preferred Vendor, and Default Warehouse.

Warehouses

Select the checkbox to choose specific warehouses to be included in the forecast. If the checkbox is unselected, only the item's default warehouse is considered in the forecast. If the item does not have a default warehouse, then the company's default warehouse is considered in the forecast.

Sales History

Select the historic data source as the calculation basis for the forecast: Sales Order, Delivery, or A/R Invoice.

Note Note

  • Canceled documents and reserved invoices are not considered.

  • Only sales documents with posting dates within the range of maximum history time buckets are considered.

  • For deliveries, returns and negative deliveries are also considered.

  • For A/R invoices, credit memos and negative A/R invoices are also considered.

Calc. Method

In the dropdown list, select the algorithm to be used in the forecast. This method will be used for all the filtered items. To change the calculation method for specific items in specific warehouses, follow the procedure below:

  1. In the Forecast Values area, select the row for the specific item in the specific warehouse.

  2. In the graphic area, choose Change and define parameters in the Customized Forecast window.

Recommendation Recommendation

Use the automatic selection of calculation methods, which will apply the most suitable method and its parameters based on the historic data.

Forecast Values Area Fields
Forecast Time Buckets

Displays the number of time buckets you selected in the View dropdown list of the Forecasts window.

Forecast Period

Displays the start date and end date you specified in the Forecasts window.

Maximum History Time Buckets

Displays the maximum number of historic time buckets that are used as the calculation basis for the forecast.

To generate the forecast based on sales records of a different history period, modify the number and choose the Forecast button.

Current Calc. Method

Displays the calculation method used for the row you selected in the Forecast Values area.

To generate the forecast based on a different calculation method, choose Change and define parameters in the Customized Forecast window. After you change the parameters, the row in the Forecast Values area is tagged with an orange triangle, indicating that the calculation method has been customized.

The parameters for the calculation methods are as follows:

  • Triple Exponential Smoothing (TESM):

    • Automatic Optimization: select Yes to set the optimal parameters.

    • Alpha, Beta, Gamma: three factors used in the forecast calculation.

    • Base Cycle: the cycle used for calculation. You can change the cycle according to your own situation. For example, if your production cycle is six months, you define the base cycle as 6 months, and the forecast will be calculated on a six-month cycle basis.

  • Linear Regression with Damped Trend and Seasonal Adjust (LRDTSA):

    • Trend: damped trend factor. Value range is (0, 1].

Save As A Template

Choose this button to save the settings in the Configuration area, and the parameters you changed in the Customized Forecast window.

You are authorized to save only the templates that were created by you.

You cannot use the following characters in a template name:

Load Template

To load a template, choose this button, select a template, and choose the Forecast button.

To delete templates, choose this button, and delete the templates in the Load Template window.
