In MRP calculations, the application needs to determine the warehouse of the required component items. The current item is considered as the parent item, and this dropdown list lets you select a warehouse source to be used in the MRP calculation for its component items. From Bill of Materials Line - Use the component warehouse defined in the line of the Bill of Materials window. From Parent Item Document Line - Use the parent item's warehouse defined in the line of the parent item demand document.
This field is available only if you have selected Make in the Procurement Method dropdown list. By default, the option displayed here is carried from the same field on the General tab in the Item Groups - Setup window of the item group to which the current item belongs. End of the note.

ExampleSelect one of the defined intervals or select Define New to open Order Interval - Setup window. In MRP calculations, the application automatically groups the recommended orders into interval periods, and arranges orders within the same period into the first working day of that period. Enter the numeric value to define the size of the lots for the MRP.
If the value is 12, the item is ordered in multiples of 12. So if you need 20 items and the value is 12, the MRP recommendation is for 24 items. End of the example. |
Enter a value to define the minimum lot size in inventory UoM.
When the value is 100, and you need 80 to meet a sales order, the MRP recommends 100 to satisfy the demand as well as the definition for minimum order quantity. End of the example. |

Enter the number of days from when the item is ordered to when the item is received or produced.

Example
Procurement Method
A box of chocolates is a parent item in an assembly BOM. It consists of a wooden box and 25 chocolates, which are the child items. The box is purchased from an external vendor and the chocolates are produced by your company. The make procurement method should be chosen for the box of chocolates item and the chocolate items. The buy procurement method should be chosen for the wooden box.
Box of Chocolates BOM
In order to make one box of chocolates, the MRP issues recommendations for the quantities required to assemble the product, that is, a production order for 25 chocolates and a purchase order for one wooden box.
No actual production order is issued for the box of chocolates as it is an assembly BOM.
