The table below explains the colors (background and font colors) and their indications on the MRP Report and Recommendation tabs:

  • Background Color

    Color

    Description

    Example

    White

Indicates that there are more supplies than demands. Therefore, the final inventory is greater than zero and the item's quantity is sufficient and there is no need to issue recommendations.

    Note Note

    • The white color is only for the item line. If you are in the expanded view, the detail lines for the item are not displayed in white.

    • Historic data and Past Due Data columns are always displayed in dark gray.

    End of the note.

    Light Grey

    Indicates one of the following:

    • No data for this item in the given period.

    • The item has a supply or recommendation that can be received in time to satisfy the demand. In this case, the quantity appears in black.

    • Today is July 1, 2011.

    • A production order for a certain parent item is due on July 20, 2011.

    • The lead time of the item is 5 days.

The order for the child items should be issued on July 15, 2011. This is a future date, so there is sufficient time to complete the production.

    Dark Grey

Indicates that a sufficient supply cannot be received to satisfy the demand in time.

In this case, the recommendation and supply quantity appear in red, indicating that though the recommendation for this item is issued anyway, the recommendation cannot be completed to provide sufficient inventory before the due date. The application also marks the Due Date field for this kind of recommendation in red (for the Recommendations tab of MRP wizard step 6, the Order Recommendations window, and the Pegging Information window).

    • Today is July 14, 2011.

    • A production order is recommended for a certain parent item with the due date of July 16, 2011.

    • The lead time of this production BOM is 3 days.

To complete the order by the due date, the child items should have been issued on July 13. However, this date is in the past. Therefore, the process cannot be completed on time and the cell is dark grey.

  • Font Color

    Color

    Description

    Example

    Black

    • In the item line, values in black indicate the recommended quantity for this item can be received in time to satisfy the demand.

    • In the expanded detail lines, all positive values are displayed in black.

    Red

    • In the item line, values in red indicate the recommended quantity for this item cannot be received before the due date to satisfy the demand in time.

    • In the expanded detail lines, all negative values are displayed in red.

    • When you are viewing the MRP data in periods of 1 day, which means you are viewing the MRP schedule per day, the header area displays a date in red to indicate that this day is a holiday you defined in the holiday table. For more information, see Holiday Dates Window.

    • On the Recommendation tab, if the recommendation cannot be received before the Due Date, the Due Date appears in red.
