In SAP Business One, you can define your fixed assets by different classes. In each asset class, you can assign multiple depreciation areas and depreciation methods. By assigning an asset class to an asset, you can link the depreciation areas and methods to the asset.

Prerequisites

  • You have enabled fixed assets.

    For more information, see Enabling Fixed Assets.

  • You have defined the following:

    • Account determination

    • Depreciation types

    • Depreciation areas

    • Attribute groups

Procedure

Defining Asset Classes

  1. From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose   Administration   Setup   Financials   Fixed Assets   Asset Classes  .

    The Asset Classes - Setup window opens.

  2. Specify the general information and the following parameters:

    • Asset type

    • Attribute group

    • Depreciation area

    • Account determination

    • Depreciation type

    • Useful life

  3. Choose Add.

Assigning Asset Classes to Fixed Assets

  1. From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose   Financials   Fixed Assets   Asset Master Data  .

    The Asset Master Data window opens.

  2. On the Fixed Assets tab, Overview subtab, specify the asset class to which the asset belongs.

    Note Note

    You cannot change the asset class of an asset having the status Active.

    Once you specify the asset class, the associated depreciation parameters are copied to the asset. If required, you can also change these parameters for the asset.
