You can use the following procedure to create implementation projects, which assist you with the implementation and configuration of SAP Business One. An implementation project is a template that details the specific steps you must complete to fully install and implement SAP Business One for a specific customer.

During the implementation process, you can use templates to allocate your time to specific tasks and track your progress.

Prerequisites

You have configured the project attachments folder in the Implementation Center Path Settings window. For more information, see Implementation Center Path Settings.

Procedure

To create an implementation project template, do the following:

  1. From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose   Administration   System Initialization   Implementation Center   Implementation Project  .

    The Implementation Project window appears.

  2. To create a blank project template, on the Edit tab, choose Add Template.

    The Add Template window appears.

    Note Note

You can create a new project template based on an existing one. To do so, from the Project Template dropdown list, select an existing project template, and then choose Duplicate Template.

    End of the note.
  3. Enter a name and short description for the project template, and then choose the OK button.

The application creates a new project template containing a single step, which has a child step, grandchild step, and so on.

  4. To rename any of the pre-defined steps, do the following:

    1. Right-click the step that you want to rename and choose Rename Step.

    2. In the Rename Step window, enter a new name for the step.

      Choose the OK button.

  5. To add a new step, do the following:

    1. Select an existing step with the same level as the step you want to create.

      Choose Add Step.

    2. In the Add Step window, enter the name of the step, and then choose the OK button.

    3. [Optional] To adjust the position and level of the step, use the arrow icons at the top of the window.

      • To adjust the position, click Move Up or Move Down.

      • To adjust the level, click Increase Level or Decrease Level.

      Note Note

To hide low level steps so that you can work with only high level steps, from the Select Level dropdown list, select the value of the lowest level steps that you want to display. For example, if you select 3 from the dropdown list, the application displays all level one, level two, and level three steps, but does not display level four and level five steps.

      End of the note.
    4. To link the step to a window in SAP Business One, right-click the step and choose Add Link.

In the Menu Selection Form window, locate the window to which you want to link the step, and then choose the OK button.

    5. To add a description for the step, in the Info column, click the icon.

In the Project Step Description window, enter a description, and then choose the OK button.

    6. To add notes to the step, in the Notes column, click the icon.

In the Notes window, enter the note, and then choose the OK button.

    7. To attach one or more files to the step, in the Attachments column, click the icon.

In the Attachment window, choose the Browse button and locate the file you want to attach.

    8. In the Planned Time (Hours) column, enter the number of hours required to complete the step. You can enter supplementary hours for work on a parent step, in addition to the time that is allocated to the child steps of the parent.

      Note Note

The Total Planned Time (Hours) column displays the expected total number of hours required to complete a step and its child steps. For example, if a parent step has four child steps that each require one hour of planned time, and you allocate one additional hour to the parent step, then the total planned time is five hours.

      End of the note.
    9. Choose the Update button.

  6. Repeat the previous step until you have added all the required steps to the project template.

  7. To save the project template, choose the OK button.
