"In Whse" quantity is negative

Diagnosis

  1. From the SAP Business One Main Menu, you have chosen   Administration   System Initialization   Document Settings  .

  2. On the General tab, you have selected the Block Negative Inventory By checkbox and chosen the Update button.

  3. You have chosen   Inventory   Inventory Transactions   Inventory Opening Balances, Inventory Tracking, and Inventory Posting   and then selected the Inventory Posting tab.

  4. You have selected an item and in the Difference column, you have tried to post an inventory loss that would cause the item's inventory to fall below the negative inventory level you have defined in step 2.

Example Example

You store Item001 in WH01 and WH02. Currently the inventory of Item001 in WH01 is 10 and that of WH02 is 5. The following scenarios may occur:

  • You have selected Block Negative Inventory By Warehouse and tried to perform an inventory posting for Item001 in WH01.

You specified a negative value -11 in the Difference column, which caused the In Whse quantity to fall to -1. Then this message appeared and prevented you from posting this inventory change.

  • You have selected Block Negative Inventory By Company and tried to perform an inventory posting for Item001 in WH01. You may encounter either of the following two scenarios:

    • You specified a negative value -11 in the Difference column, which caused the In Whse quantity to fall to -1, but the total in stock quantity for Item001 was 4 and positive. Therefore, this message did not appear and you successfully post the change.

    • You specified a negative value -16 in the Difference column, which caused the In Whse quantity to fall to -6, and the total in stock quantity for Item001 turned negative to –1. Then this message appeared and prevented you from posting this inventory change.

End of the example.

Procedure

Do one of the following:

  • Deselect the Block Negative Inventory By checkbox.

  • Make sure that your transactions do not cause the item to fall below the negative inventory level you have defined.
