Procedure documentationConfiguring the Service for the Control of ILM Stores

If you use SAP NetWeaver ILM in a live application system or in a Retention Warehouse system (for data from decommissioned systems), you need to use a service delivered by SAP to control all transactions involving an ILM store. You have the following options:

Service for ILM Store

Application Server of the Service

Description

Storage and Retention Service (SRS)

AS ABAP

SRS is intended specifically for use in SAP NetWeaver ILM. You can use service as follows:

  • Locally (in an ABAP application system or RW system)

  • Remotely (by connecting to a separate service that runs on AS ABAP using an HTTP connection)

The configuration of the SRS takes place in an application system or an RW system, even if the service runs remotely on a separate system.

XML Data Archiving Service (XML DAS)

AS Java

XML DAS is intended for data archiving in Java application systems.

You can use this service for data archiving with XML archiving object from ABAP applications systems as well as for SAP NetWeaver ILM. To do so, you need an AS Java and the corresponding HTTP connection between an ABAP application system and an AS Java.

You configure the XML DAS on the AS Java, on which the XML DAS runs.

Note Note

You can also use the AS ABAP with an older AS Java release. For technical reasons related to the AS Java release, you need to configure the XML DAS separately in the older AS Java release. If there is an upgrade, for example, a change to the Storage and Retention Service (SRS) you cannot transfer the complete configuration to the new release .

End of the note.

Procedure

  1. Depending on your system landscape, decide which service you want to use to control the stores in SAP NetWeaver ILM.

  2. Configure the service and register the stores.
