Procedure documentationMaking the Configuration Settings for Using CDE

If the data of a legacy system that is to be decommissioned is to be provided for transfer to ILM Retention Warehouse, you need the Context Data Extractor (CDE) as well as the archiving functions. You use the CDE in the following situations:

  • The database table belongs to an archiving object that is not ILM-enabled.

  • The database table does not belong to any archiving object (for example, company-specific tables).

  • The database table contains context data (metadata, Customizing settings).

The CDE configuration is necessary if you want to extract tables for company-specific adjustments and the Add-on or the Business Functions delivered by SAP do not contain the required settings.

Procedure

  1. Register the archiving objects and the related database tables in the CDE.

For more information, see: Registering Archiving Objects and Database Tables in CDE.

  2. Register the database tables to be extracted, and which contain context data, in the CDE.

For more information, see: Registering Database Tables with Context Data in CDE.
