Procedure documentationProviding Metadata in the RW System Repository

If you have not automated the transfer of metadata tables from the legacy system to the RW system repository, you can perform this operation manually. You have the following options:

  • Transfer all metadata tables for each system (with the corresponding function as part of editing the repository)

  • Transfer all metadata tables for each SN_META archiving session (with the corresponding function as part of editing the repository)

Procedure

For each Legacy System, Transfer and Edit Metadata Tables in the RW Repository
1. Calling a Function

In the ILM Retention Warehouse Cockpit for administrators, choose Start of the navigation path Metadata Transfer from the Legacy System Next navigation step Providing Data in the RW Repository End of the navigation path.

2. Transferring Repository Tables and Fields from the Legacy System
  1. Choose Transfer from Legacy System.

  2. Enter the system ID and client of the legacy system. If you want to test the transfer (log output only), choose Test Mode.

  3. Choose Execute.

3. Editing the List of Repository Tables
  1. Choose Edit.

  2. Use the editing functions as follows:

    • To change the Buffering Type for View Building, select the required entry.

The buffering type is a default value for building data views that is determined by the system. A data view links tables for queries. In some situations, you can change this value manually. The following options are available:

      • No buffering: For a leading table that does not need buffering

      • Memory buffering: For a table assigned to a data view that belongs to the same data object (archived document) as the leading table in the data view

      • Database buffering: For a table assigned to a data view that does not belong to the same data object as the leading table in the data view

    • Select the tables you want to delete and choose Delete.

You use this to delete the tables transferred from SN_META, which are no longer needed in the RW repository. The delete function also removes assigned fields and ILM objects for each table.

    • To include a table that you have defined locally in the DDIC in the repository, select Insert and then select the table from the line you have added.

With this function, you can add additional tables (defined in DDIC) and which are not included in SN_META. The table you add receives the RW Local indicator.

Transfer Metadata Tables to the Repository for each SN_META Archiving Session
  1. In the ILM Retention Warehouse Cockpit for administrators, choose Start of the navigation path Archive File Conversion and Storage Next navigation step Convert and Store Archive Files End of the navigation path.

  2. Under Connections to Legacy Systems, select the legacy system ID (double-click).

  3. On the Convert Files tab page, open the structure under SN_META to the archiving sessions level.

  4. In the context menu of the archiving session, choose Fill Repository.

  5. Schedule the execution of activity as follows:

    Input

    Description

    Flow control

    • Test mode: Simulation of the transfer (log creation without changes to the database in the RW system)

    • Production mode: Transfer of the archive administration data to the database of the RW system

    Request/ Task

If you execute this step in a Customizing client, enter a transport request. The system then writes the table entries to the transport request.
