Preparing the Legacy System for Data Extraction
To be able to use the data extracted from your legacy system for Lifecycle Management with the Retention Management functions of SAP NetWeaver ILM
, you need to enable the legacy system for ILM.
This includes copying ILM-enabled archiving objects to the legacy system and adding ILM-specific enhancements such as snapshot functions for the archiving of open business processes to Archive Administration (transaction SARA
).
In the legacy system, you also need the Context Data Extractor (CDE)
including the corresponding configuration. In the legacy system, you use CDE
to create snapshots of data that could not be archived in Archive Administration and for all context data (Customizing settings and metadata).
SAP delivers content that is required for ILM-compliant data extraction in the legacy system with Business Functions
and with add-ons for older systems.
In the legacy system, install Information Lifecycle Management Add-on for SAP ERP 4.6C
that is delivered by SAP.
The add-on adds the snapshot functions for Archive Administration (transaction SARA
) as well as Context Data Extractor (CDE)
including the corresponding configuration.
For more information, see: SAP Note 1402693![]()
To activate CDE content using Business Functions
, start the Switch Framework
in the legacy system.
