Procedure documentationActivating Storage and Retention Service (SRS) for ILM Stores

To use Storage and Retention Service (SRS) for managing ILM stores, you need to activate SRS in the application system. The application system in which you use SAP NetWeaver ILM is either a live application system or a Retention Warehouse system.

To activate SRS, the following options are available:

  • Activate the SRS that runs locally in the application system.

  • Activate the SRS that runs on a separate (remote) system. For this option, you need an HTTP connection between the relevant systems.

Procedure

If SRS runs in the application system: Activate the local SRS for each client
  1. In the ILM cockpit (for each client in the application system), choose Start of the navigation path Services for Settings Next navigation step Settings for Data Archiving End of the navigation path.

    Note Note

You can also call up transaction SARA in the relevant client of the application system and choose the following path: Start of the navigation path Customizing Next navigation step Cross-Archiving-Object Customizing Next navigation step Technical Settings End of the navigation path.

    End of the note.
  2. Under ILM Store Service , choose Local.

If the SRS runs on a separate system: Activate remote SRS for each client
1. Establish HTTP connection to SRS
  1. In the ILM cockpit (for each client of the application system), choose Start of the navigation path Services for Settings Next navigation step HTTP Connections End of the navigation path (transaction SM59 ).

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path.

  3. Enter the following general data:

    • RFC Destination: Name of the HTTP connection

    • Connection Type: H (HTTP connection to ABAP system)

  4. Define the HTTP connection as follows:

    Tab Page

    Entries

    Technical Settings

    • Target Host: Host name or IP address of the AS ABAP on which the SRS runs

    • Service No.: Port

    • Path Prefix: /sap/bc/ilm/srs

      Note Note

Instead of using the path prefix, you can enter an alias (which must be defined as a service alias in the attached AS ABAP ).

      End of the note.

    Logon and Security

    • Logon with User: The user for logging on to SRS has to be available in the target system and have the authorization to call up SRS. You can enter the user and the password or you can select the Current User checkbox.

    Special Options

    • Timeout: Optional: To avoid timeouts, adjust the timeout settings.

    • HTTP Version: No default setting, however, we recommend HTTP 1.1

    • Accept Cookies: No default setting, however, we recommend Yes (all)

2. Activating remote SRS

  2. Under ILM Store Service, choose Remote and enter the HTTP connection to the SRS.
