Procedure documentationActivating SAP NetWeaver ILM

 

To be able to use SAP NetWeaver Information Lifecycle Management (SAP NetWeaver ILM), you need to activate the relevant Business Functions so that the application system, that is, the Retention Warehouse system, is ILM-enabled.

Prerequisites

You have a license for the use of one of the following SAP NetWeaver ILM application scenarios:

  • Retention Management (lifecycle management of data in a live application system)

  • System Decommissioning (lifecycle management of data in a decommissioned legacy system in a stand-alone Retention Warehouse system)

Procedure

  1. To switch on Business Functions, access the system in the Switch Framework.

  2. Switch on the following Business Functions in the system according to the licensed ILM application scenario by using SAP NetWeaver ILM.

    Makes the SAP NetWeaver ILM scope of functions available from a technical perspective and is therefore required for both ILM application scenarios. Activation has the following effects:

    • ILM-Specific Enhancements to Data Archiving Functions

      • Inclusion of ILM rules when filling archive files

      • Function for conversion of existing archive files according to ILM rules

      • Creation of snapshots (copies)

      • Display of the archive hierarchy

      • Archiving with the option to destroy data

      • Enhancement of Archive Administration

      • Enhancement of the Archive Information System

        Valid only for Retention Warehouse: You can enter the name of the SAP original system and the original client for archive infostructures.

    • Release of ILM-specific functions (for example, ILM-Customizing, data destruction)

    ILM_RWC_PRODUCT_LIABILITY
