Function documentationIntegration with SAP Innovation Management

If you are using SAP Innovation Management, you can link portfolio items, project definitions and project tasks with ideas in SAP Innovation Management using an object link. This is relevant if an item or project is based on or related to an idea created and processed in SAP Innovation Management. The object link enables you to access detailed idea data directly from the item or project. From the innovation office in SAP Innovation Management, you can follow up on ideas and view or access the portfolio items or projects to which they are linked.

Prerequisites

  • You are using SAP Innovation Management 1.0 support package 01 or higher.

  • In your SAP Portfolio and Project Management system, you have enabled the integration of portfolio items and/or projects with ideas. • You have users with identical user names for SAP Portfolio and Project Management and SAP Innovation Management.

  • Your SAP Innovation Management user has the following authorizations or roles:

    • Display authorization for the ideas to which you want to link, as well as the Participant role for the campaigns containing these ideas

Without these authorizations, you cannot display, link to or search for ideas of a campaign.

    • Community user and Innovation office user

You need these roles to access the idea community and the innovation office from the item or project.

Features

You can create object links for items in the Relationships view of items, and object links for project definitions and tasks in the Detail subview of a project's Structure view. Use the object type Idea (Innovation Management) to create a link to an idea in SAP Innovation Management. This object type supports the following functions:

  • During the creation of the object link, a search help is provided to search for ideas in SAP Innovation Management using criteria such as campaign, idea name, ID, and progress. The Progress field enables you, for example, to search for ideas that have completed the innovation process.

  • Once the link has been created, you can display idea header data, such as ID, name, submitter, coach, campaign, phase, and status within the item, the project definition, or the task.

    Note Note

The phases of an idea indicate the progress of the idea in the innovation process. They are not related to the phases of the item or the phases of a project.

    End of the note.
  • From the item, project definition, or task, you can navigate to the idea community and the innovation office of SAP Innovation Management to display detailed idea data, such as description, comments, evaluations, and stakeholders.
