Recording Changes
In Project Management
, changes made to the following objects can be recorded automatically by the system:
Projects
Project templates
Checklist templates
Control plans
Control plan templates
The system records the creation, changing, and deletion of these objects in change documents. You can display these documents and track the changes made to an object in the objects itself.
The creation of change documents triggers a workflow. For more information, see Workflow.
The following settings are required for change document creation:
You have activated the creation of change documents for the individual object types in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under .
If required, you have suppressed the recording of specific changes by implementing method MODIFY_CHANGE_DOCUMENTS

If required, you have suppressed the display of specific change documents or change document items by implementing method CDFILTER
in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under . For more information, see the Customizing activity documentation.
In Project Management
under , you have selected the Display Change Documents
checkbox, thus activating the Change Documents
tab page in the Detail
view of project elements in operative projects, project templates, and checklist templates.
You have admin
authorization for the objects whose change documents you want to display.
If the creation of change documents is active for an object type, changes made to dependent objects are also recorded. For example, for projects, the system not only records changes you make to the project definition, but also changes to dependent objects such as checklists, tasks, roles, and phases including approvals. If, for example, you want to record changes to roles, the creation of change documents must be active for projects.
You can track the recorded changes in projects, project templates, and checklist templates on project element level. Go to the Detail
subview of an element in the Structure
view, or the Details
subview of a role in the Resources
view. On the Change Documents
tab page of this subview, changes recorded for this project element or role are listed with their old and new values, the date and time of the change, and the user who performed it. You can select the time frame for which change documents are to be displayed.
Caution
Change documents with long text fields, such as notes for staffing, are not displayed on the Change Documents
tab page.
