Replacing User or Resource
With this function, you can replace an individual user or an individual resource by another user or by another resource. You can perform the replacement in multiple objects, relevant subobjects, and role-task assignments. You can use the replacement for the object categories Project
(for
user and resource) and Role
(for resources only).
You must have superuser authorization. For more information, see Superuser.
You can find the Replace User/Resource
function in the front-end system by choosing .
Replace User/Resource
On the Replace User/Resource
tab, select User
or Resource
.
In the relevant input field, select the current user or resource. You can also enter a name in the relevant field and press ENTER
.
Note
For a user, you enter the user name; for a resource, you enter the business partner number.
Select the new user or resource and press ENTER
.
You must select the object category to activate the Find Assignments
pushbutton.
Choose the Find Assignments
pushbutton. This generates a list of one or more assignments for the selected user or resource.
In the generated list, select the objects for which you want to execute the replacement. Then choose the Replace
pushbutton.
Select the relevant radio button to indicate whether you want to execute the replacement immediately, or schedule a date and time.
Specify the additional replacement options as follows:
If you select User and Resource
, the system replaces the user (or resource) you have entered and also the corresponding resource (or user).
If you select User in Subobjects
, the system replaces the user in the selected objects, and in the relevant subobjects.
If you select Resource in Role-Task Assignm.
(Resource in Role-Task Assignment), the system replaces the resource in the staffing assignments of the role, and in the role-task assignments of these staffing assignments.
Choose the Continue
pushbutton to navigate to the last Replace User/Resource
dialog box, before the system completes or schedules the replacement
Note
You cannot undo your changes after the system has executed the replacement.
Choose OK
to perform the replacement immediately, or at the scheduled date and time in a background job.
Display Logs
After the replacement, you can display the background job messages as follows:
On the Display Logs
tab, enter the user name of the user who started the replacement.
Specify the time range.
Choose the Display Logs
pushbutton.
The results table displays all messages for the specified user within the given time frame.
