Authorizations for Generic Objects and Object Categories

Use

Default Authorization

You can define default authorizations for generic objects and object categories in the cFolders administration on the Settings tab page. You can also specify default authorizations for the field groups of generic objects and object categories. When you create a generic object or object category, the object automatically has the default authorization you define here. You can then overwrite the default authorization as required.

Field Group Authorizations

You can define authorizations at field group level for generic objects and object categories. If you have administration authorization for a field group that has been defined as relevant for authorizations by the system administrator, you can decide who has authorization for this field group.

For more information, see Status and Authorizations for Generic Objects .

Note Note

By default, field groups inherit the authorizations of the object. For field groups for which you have administration authorization, you can overwrite this default.

Even if users have write authorization for a particular field group, they can only use this authorization if they have at least read authorization for the entire generic object.

End of the note.

The XML file of the generic object determines how you can set field group authorizations. If you set IsForAuthorization to true for a particular field group, the field group is displayed on the authorization screen of the object and you can define user authorizations for the field group. For information about defining authorizations for field groups per status, see Field Group Authorizations per Status .
