Copying One Task That Contains Subtasks

Initial setup:

  • Task 1

    • Subtask 1

    • Subtask 2

    • Subtask 3

If you copy task 1, the system also includes subtask 1, subtask 2, and subtask 3. The system uses sequential copy and paste, in other words, it inserts one project element after the other.

Sequential Copying for Two Tasks

Initial setup:

  • Task 1

  • Task 2

    • Subtask 1

Select task 1 and task 2, then choose Copy. Then select task 2 and choose Paste. The system rearranges the tasks in two steps as follows:

In the first step, the system pastes task 1 as a sub object under task 2. This looks as follows:

  • Task 1

  • Task 2

    • Task 1

    • Subtask 1

In the second step, it pastes task 1 as a sub object under task 2. Since task 1 has already become a sub object of task 2 in the first step, the system also pastes task 1 as a sub object of task 2 in the second step. After both steps have been completed, the hierarchy of levels looks as follows:

  • Task 1

  • Task 2

    • Task 1

    • Task 2

      • Task 1

      • Subtask1

Copying Tasks and Subtasks, and Pasting Them to Phases

Initial setup:

  • Phase 1

    • Task 1

      • Subtask 1

    • Task 2

  • Phase 2

Select task 1, subtask 1, and task 2, then choose Copy. Select phase 2 and choose Paste. The system rearranges the tasks and subtasks in two steps as follows:

In the first step, the system pastes task 1 and subtask 1 under phase 2. This looks as follows:

  • Phase 2

    • Task 1

      • Subtask 1

In the second step, it pastes subtask 1 and task 2 under phase 2. After both steps have been completed, the hierarchy of levels looks as follows:

  • Phase 2

    • Task 1

      • Subtask 1

    • Subtask 1

    • Task 1
