Distribution for Capacity Planning
You use this function to simplify the process of manually entering amounts for a capacity view in a capacity group.
To use the distribution, select an object in an object dashboard. On the object details screen, choose . Select a particular hierarchy of categories, groups, and views. Select a view or group and choose .
You have defined the distribution type of the capacity group in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under .
You have defined the capacity views as Manual
in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under .
In the Distribution
dialog box, fill out the following fields:

Explanation |

Valid From |
You specify the start for the distribution. If you do not enter a value in this field, the system uses the current capacity planning start. You can specify the start as a date before the current capacity planning start. In this case, the system adds and displays new columns for new periods. |
Valid To |
You specify the finish for the distribution. If you do not enter a value in this field, the system uses the current capacity planning finish. You can specify the finish as a date after the current capacity planning finish. In this case, the system adds and displays new columns for new periods. |
Capacity |
You specify the capacity that is to be distributed along the timeline. |
Unit |
The value displayed is the capacity planning unit at the item/initiative/bucket or what-if level. You can also select any other capacity unit for distribution purpose. When your select a unit other than the capacity planning unit, the demand is converted from this unit to the capacity planning unit and distributed accordingly. |
Action Type |
You select the action type from the drop down list. The action type indicates how the distributed capacity affects the current capacity. The following action types are available:

Calculation Base |
You select the calculation base from the drop down list. The calculation base decides how the required value is distributed along the timeline. You have the following calculation bases available:

Distribution Type |
The distribution type determines how actual calculations are done during distribution, that is, whether to divide capacities approximately or divide according to factory calendar and so on. This is a read-only field. You have set the value of this field, for example the distribution type for a particular group, in Customizing for

To distribute the amounts once you have entered values in all the fields mentioned above, choose OK
.
The distributed amounts are displayed on the Capacity Planning
screen.
You can change these amounts.
Consider the example of an item with monthly capacity breakdown type.
