Function documentationDisplaying Data in the Timeline Monitor

The timeline monitor displays start and finish for initiatives and portfolio items and their phases and decision points in the form of a graph and table.

The screen is divided up as follows:

  • The first screen area displays the objects in a hierarchy with subobjects.

  • The second screen area displays the start and finish in a table.

  • The third screen area shows the Gantt chart, that is, the graphical view of all objects over time.

Graphical View

If you have entered data for the selected initiative or portfolio item, the timeline monitor displays phases and decision points as follows:

  • The periods are separated by vertical lines.

  • The current date is indicated by a gray separator.

  • Choose Go to... to move the point in time you want to view to the center of the screen.

If you have defined a Custom Timescale and choose Go to..., the system adjusts the period displayed in the chart accordingly.

Table View

In addition to the graphical view, you can open and close a table view by choosing the triangle icons in the top left corner of the graphical view.

The table view is not dependent on the specified Period. The system displays all dates for the selected object.

The table view displays the following dates for start and finish for each object:

  • For all objects:

    • Forecasted Start

    • Forecasted Finish

    • Planned Start

    • Planned Finish

    • Actual Start

    • Actual Finish

      Note Note

In the first screen area (the object hierarchy), the column of the parent object (Parent Name) is only visible in the phase-centric view.

The columns Phase Name, ID, and Object Type are displayed in the object-centric and phase-centric views.

      End of the note.
  • For decision points:

    • Forecasted decision-point date

    • Planned decision-point date

    • Actual decision-point date

You can personalize the table view according to your user-specific requirements as follows:

  • Change the order of columns

You can drag and drop the individual columns in the table view to different positions.

  • Change column width

You can change the column width by dragging the edges of the columns.
