Working with Change Documents
If you have activated change documents for an object, the system tracks all attribute changes to these objects, for example Date
, Time
, Old Value
, New Value
, Changed
By
, and so on. The data is captured within the change document framework of the ERP system. Your extensions to business objects using the addition of customer fields can also be captured within this framework. Only attribute data that is marked in the data dictionary settings for change
document support is captured by the change document framework.
You have activated this function in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under .
To activate change documents for an initiative, you have also activated the change documents for the item header (PPM RIH), item detail (PPM-PFM PPO), and project in Customizing for Project Management
under .
To display the Change Documents
subview, you must have selected the Display Change Documents
checkbox in the portal, by choosing .
You can display the change documents for the objects in the portfolio management context and the administration context.
Note
Your settings for the display of captured data are independent of whether the system captures changed data. Changed data is captured according to Customizing settings, regardless of user settings to display that content.
The display of changed data is organized and presented according to the following areas:
Detail data
Status
Object links
Authorizations
In the object details, you navigate to the Miscellaneous
view and then to the Change Documents
subview.
In the Change Documents
subview, you fill out the following fields:
Time Frame
Date From
Date To
Note
The system remembers previous user settings. Therefore, you have to choose Refresh
to see current changes.
The changed documents for the selected object are listed in the tab pages.
Displayed changes do not display the initial value of the attributes with their field content. This information is captured in the change document framework. You can see the initial attributes in the Created By
and Created On
fields.
You can extend application objects by adding custom fields to the business object data. The system performs this in the customer include provided for each support object.
For each field of the custom structure for which you want to capture changes, you must mark the data element for change document support.
You activate the custom structure completely. This may affect the following structures associated with the business object:
BW interface structures
Change document technical structure
Business object technical data structure and associated API structure
All of these structures must be activated for proper system performance. You can see these structures in the where-used list of the structure within the data dictionary application.
Save your settings.
Note
Settings in the data element of the custom fields must be marked as Active
for change documents. You configure this in the further characteristics of the data element.
