This function allows you to create a single item, based on either a template or an item type.

You can only create items in the lowest level bucket of a hierarchy. A bucket and an item cannot co-exist in the same bucket, that is you cannot create items in buckets with subbuckets.

Activities

  1. In the item dashboard, you choose Start of the navigation path Create Next navigation step Create Item End of the navigation path.

  2. On the Create Item screen, you select the following:

    • The bucket in which you want to create the item. For more information, see Bucket Selection.

    • The required item template or an item type.

      You can also view the template you have selected.

  3. You choose Start.

  4. You enter the required data as defined in Customizing (for example, the Name field) for the item, or you enter or change the other fields in the views of the item details. You can also change the creation parameters, such as bucket, item template, or item type.

    Depending on the item type, you may be able to create a Project System project or Project Management project while creating an item. Relevant project fields are visible if enabled in Customizing. The project is created when you save the new item. Only one project can be attached to an item at a time.

  5. You save your settings.

    Note Note

    Some fields are not visible during item creation. For example, the Financial Planning pushbutton in the Financial Information view or the Capacity Planning pushbutton in the Capacity Information view are only visible once you have saved the item.
