Procedure documentationMaking User Settings

When you make user settings for project maintenance, you can personalize parameters such as the default values used or the type of information displayed in the graphical view of your projects. These settings are user-specific, but not project-specific.

Prerequisites

To enable the display of additional information in the graphical view of projects, you have activated the user interface setting 0021 Display Additional Information on Gantt Chart in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Project Management Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Override Default Global Settings End of the navigation path. If you do not activate this enhancement, the corresponding screen area is not available on the Graphic tab page of the user settings.

Procedure

On the Project Management start page, or in project maintenance, choose User Settings and proceed with the following steps.

Making General Settings
  1. Select the processing mode you want to set as the default for opening projects.

If you open a project element in the Display processing mode, the system does not set a lock indicator and other project participants can edit the project.

  2. Under Earl./Lst Dates, choose whether the system should display the earliest or latest dates in the Gantt chart.

  3. If applicable, select a date type.

The date type is only relevant if you use object links. It affects how the dates of the SAP objects are displayed in the graphical view (see Graphical View).

  4. Select the Scheduling Only Manually checkbox if you want the dates of the project elements to be calculated by calling scheduling manually (see Scheduling Manually) or by saving and you do not want the system to calculate them automatically. Calling scheduling manually can have a positive effect on performance if you are working with large project structures.

  5. Decide whether you want to display the Change Documents tab page and select or deselect the Display Change Documents checkbox accordingly.

  6. Select the Delete Without Confirmation checkbox as required. If you have selected this checkbox, the system does not display a confirmation dialog box when you delete project elements. This does not apply to the project definition; when you delete a project definition, the system still displays a confirmation dialog box because you are trying to delete the root element.

  7. Select the No Navigation to Detail checkbox as required. If you have selected this checkbox, you can create project elements without navigating to the detail data. The system does not check whether all mandatory fields have been filled.

  8. If you want to adjust the width of the structure tree, enter the required number of pixels under Tree Width (Px). The system uses this value for the width of the structure tree in the table and detail views.

  9. Choose whether you want to view and edit your project texts in the original language or in the logon language and make the default setting in the dropdown box (see Multilingual Capabilities).

  10. If you want to use a different start view than the Detail sub view of the Structure view, you can choose one from the Default Start View dropdown list. You can select one of the sub views belonging to the main views Structure or Resources.

  11. Choose your screen resolution from the Structure Display Optimized for Resolution dropdown box. The number of table lines displayed in the structure tree and the Table subview of the project structure will be adjusted as follows:

    Screen Resolution

    Number of Lines Displayed

    800 x 600

    10

    1024 x 768

    15

    1280 x 1024

    25

    1600 x 1200

    28

    Not specified

    20

If you do not want to use the number of lines defined for your screen resolution, you can also specify a different resolution.

  12. Save your settings.

Setting Default Values
  1. Select the values Project Management displays by default when you create a project or template.

  2. Save your entries.

Note Note

If, in the user settings, you set up object types that were deactivated at a later point in time, they are no longer used here.

End of the note.
Making User Settings
  1. Enter your user data in the Own Data area or edit the data there.

  2. Choose the time zone, the required date format, and the decimal point format.

  3. Save your data.

  4. If you want to change your password, enter your old password in the Password field in the Password Change area.

  5. Enter your new password in the New Password field and again in the Repeat Password field.

  6. Save your new password.

Making Settings for the Graphic
  1. Select the Without Relationships checkbox if you do not want to display or edit relationships in the graphical view.

  2. Select the Hide Scheduling Conflicts checkbox if you do not want to display scheduling conflicts in the graphical view. If you deselect this checkbox, scheduling conflicts are highlighted in red in the graphical view. The highlighting is visible until the session ends or the next scheduling takes place. Therefore, project elements can still be highlighted after conflicts have been resolved if the user is working with manual scheduling.

  3. Under Hidden Table Columns, select the table columns that you do not want the system to display in the table part of the graphic.

    Note Note

You can only make user-specific settings for those columns that are not already hidden by the CPRO_GANTT enhancement spot. For more information, see Customizing for Project Management under Start of the navigation path Global Enhancements to Project Elements Next navigation step Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) Next navigation step BAdI: Check or Change Graphical View Display End of the navigation path.

    End of the note.
  4. If the screen area Show Additional Gantt Information is available (see Prerequisites), select the additional project information that you want to display in the graphical view of your projects, and specify whether you want to display only the information or also the corresponding field label.

You can choose to display phase and task data such as name, status, duration. or constraints. In the Gantt chart, the selected information will be displayed as a text next to the bar of the phase or task.

    Note Note

These settings are valid for the Graphic subview of individual projects. Displaying additional project information is not supported in the multi-project monitor, or when you compare the planned project data to a simulation, a snapshot, or the forecasted dates in the Graphic subview of a project.

    End of the note.
