Function documentationCopying Roles and Staffings

You use this function to copy roles and staffings from other projects to a project you are working on so that you can use them for follow-up projects.

Prerequisites

  • You have activated the Enhanced Capital and Resource Mgmt Switch in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Project Management Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Override Default Global Settings End of the navigation path .

  • “Role creation by include only” is not active for your project type. See Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Project Management Next navigation step Structure Next navigation step Define Project Types End of the navigation path. You can find the relevant setting on the Details view of your project type, in the Resource Management screen area.

Activities

You carry out the following activities:

You select a source project.

The system displays all roles of the project and suggests one of the following actions:

  • Create

  • Ignore

  • <Role of the current project>

The system selects an appropriate role according to namespace and role type. The namespace takes precedence over the role type.

You can decide whether you want to create a new role, map the role to an existing role as suggested by the system, or ignore the role if it is not required. You can switch the values of all entries in the Copy To column by choosing Select 'Ignore' for All or Select 'Create' for All Possible.

If you create a new role, the system uses the staffing and the demand. If you map the role to an existing role, staffing and demand are not overwritten. The system adds the staffing of the copied role to the staffing of the existing role.

You can switch the entries to the first default values by choosing Reset to Initial Proposal.
