 Folder and Subfolder

Definition

Folders correspond to the folders used in most common operating systems and are used to store the various objects in a collaboration.

Use

You use folders to structure a collaboration. They act as a type of container for objects. Both types of folder can contain any number of objects.

Structure

A folder can contain any number of subfolders.

The objects contained in a folder are called folder objects . These objects can be any of the following:

  • Document

  • Data sheet

  • Material

  • Bill of material

  • Bookmark

  • Discussion

  • Note

  • Generic object

  • Engineering change number

  • Manufacturer part number

  • iPPE node

  • iPPE variant

Folder Overview

You can display an overview of all objects in a folder and all the folders below it by choosing Start of the navigation path Additional Functions Next navigation step Overview End of the navigation path in the menu of the screen for the relevant folder. You can either display the objects by folder, or altogether in one list. You can filter the objects in the overview by status profile, status, or object type. You can display all authorizations that a particular user has for objects in the folder from the overview by filtering by user or user group and choosing New Selection .

You need at least read authorization for the folder and the objects and subobjects it contains to be able to display the objects in this folder and all the folders below it.
