 Exporting and Importing iPPE Objects

Use

You can export iPPE product structures, including iPPE nodes, iPPE variants, and assemblies, from a back-end system to cFolders for review and later import them, together with any changes, back to the back-end system. Other parts, such as activities or factory layouts are not taken into account.

It is only possible to export one filter or focus at a time. Each filter or focus is modeled as acategorizedfolder in cFolders and the object belonging to the filter or focus are stored in a flat list in this folder.

Caution Caution

If the same object is exported with different filters/focuses, the object exist multiple times in the cFolders system as separate objects.

In cFolders, you can edit the iPPE objects as follows:

  • You can change iPPE nodes and variants.

  • You can change or add lined materials and documents.

  • You can create iPPE variants with a reference to an iPPE node. However, it is not possible to create iPPE nodes.

  • Attributes of the filter or focus are read-only.

End of the caution.

You can import the changed iPPE product structure back to the back-end system, whereby only the changed or new objects are imported. After the import into the back-end system, the objects are then re-exported to cFolders to ensure consistency between cFolders and the backend.

Prerequisites

  • In the back-end system, you have created an RFC connection to the cFolders system as follows: Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Network Next navigation step RFC Destinations(transactionSM59) End of the navigation path .

    Note Note

If you do not want the back-end integration user to have to explicitly log on to the cFolders system, you can set up a “trusted system” connection. For more information, see SAP Note 128447 and Integration with Back-End Systems (cFolders) in the SAP cProject Suite 4.50 Security Guide on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/security guide .

    End of the note.
  • You have made the required settings in Customizing for cFolders back-end integration using transaction CFC01. Here, you need the name of the RFC connection.

  • You have selected the iPPE Node and iPPE Variant checkboxes in cFolders Administration.
