Procedure

Document Links

You can link an unlimited number of cFolders documents to a material. These documents can be selected using a search help.

·        In a collaboration in the Collaborative Scenario, documents can only be linked to a material if the document is in the same collaboration or in the Standards.

·        In a collaboration in the Competitive Scenario, documents can only be linked to a material if the document is in the same Work Area or in the Standards.

If a link between a document and a material is deleted, only the link is deleted. The document still exists.

A material can be used as the header material for exactly one bill of material. It can also be used as a component in an unlimited number of BOM items. Here, too, assignments can only be made within the same collaboration or the same work area of the same competitive scenario.

Copying Materials

You have two options when copying materials:

       1.      Copy to the same collaboration or the same work area:

The material is copied to the target folder and all document links in the copy point to the same documents as in the original. The copy is not initially the header material of a bill of material.

       2.      Copy to another work area:

The material is copied to the target folder and each document link (that does not link to Standards) is checked to determine whether a copy of the linked document exists in the new work area.

Result

If a copy does exist, the link in the copy of the material points to the copy of the linked document in the new work area.

If not, the linked document is copied to the work area with the material, and the material is linked to this copy.

The copy of the material is not initially the header material of a bill of material. When copying a material, check whether the new linked documents have the current status. Since several copies may exist, check whether the copy you want is linked to the material.

If a new version of a material is created in cFolders, the current version with the version description is copied first. The new version can then be changed.
