Use

You can use the Synchronize function to remove inconsistencies between Content Management data and TREX data.

In query-based and example-based taxonomies certain data is stored in both Content Management and TREX. Inconsistencies can occur between these two sets of data when you restore a backup of a TREX index. For example, a content manager might have changed the search queries or created new categories for a query-based taxonomy since the last backup. The Content Management data is then more up-to-date than the data in the restored TREX index.

Synchronizing a query-based taxonomy

When you define search queries, the queries are stored in Content Management (category assignment) and in TREX (index assignment).

When you start synchronization, the system transfers all search queries from Content Management to TREX.

Synchronizing an example-based taxonomy

When you create an example-based taxonomy, the system creates a property with the name of the root folder of the taxonomy in the index parameters. You can display this in the TREX monitor (TREX Monitor ® Display Index Entries ® Document Properties). For more information on index parameters, see Displaying Index Parameters.

When you start synchronization, the system creates this property as long as it is not already available.

Note

When you reindex an index, the system also always carries out the synchronization of the taxonomies between Content Management and TREX.

Activities

From the Index Administration iView, open the Details dialog box for an index and choose Taxonomies. Select one or more taxonomies and choose Synchronize.
