Use

You can use user interface commands to execute operations. Some commands can be applied to multiple resources (mass operations); others can only be used on individual resources.

Features

User interface commands are gathered into command groups in order to display them on the user interface. The definition of the display type is separate from the definition of content.

Command Groups

A command group gathers multiple commands or command groups. These are displayed as a submenu or within a menu with dividing lines.

A command group can be depicted on the user interface in different ways. The standard delivery supports the following depictions:

·        Popup menu

·        Menu bar

·        Group of function links

·        Group of pushbuttons

Activities

Selection of Command Groups

Parameters control which command groups are displayed on the user interface. You can define these parameters in the following places:

·        In a layout set, you define which command group is displayed in the Details dialog box (Configuration ® Content Management ® User Interface ® Layout Sets).

·        In the settings of collection renderers, you define which command group is displayed for the entire folder. You also define the depiction of the command group here (Configuration ® Content Management ® User Interface ® Collection Renderer Settings.

·        In the settings of resource renderers, you define which command group is displayed for the folders, documents, and links. You also define the depiction of the command group here (Configuration ® Content Management ® User Interface ® Resource Renderer Settings.

·        You can also control the selection and display of command groups with the OTH.

Command Groups

You can create new command groups in Content Management by placing commands to be displayed together (Configuration ® Content Management ® User Interface ® Commands ® Command Groups).

Note

A user’s permissions dictate whether a command that is part of the command group is actually visible.

Example

The standard delivery displays command groups in the following places:

·        In the menu bar control at the top of the admin explorer

·        In the menu bar in the Details dialog box

·        For folders

A command group is normally displayed next to the breadcrumb. It contains commands for creating new documents in the current folder, for example.

·        For current resources

There are separate command groups for folders, documents, and links. These are normally displayed as a popup menu. Groups with few elements can be displayed as a group of function links, for example.
