Application Log 
You can use the Application Log to display error messages, warnings, and other information generated by KM applications and services.
Above all, system changes that cannot be reconstructed are logged (for example, deletion).
For example, the content exchange service and crawler service write entries to the application log.
You can use the Show Options link to call up a register with the following tab pages:
· Filters
· Display
· Download
You can use these tab pages to define how information in the application log is displayed. You can set filters that define the columns displayed, or download the log as a file.
You can restrict the display of log entries by setting a filter.
Show Levels
You can use this to define the degree of detail of the log by choosing the entries that you want to display.
· Error
Errors are displayed.
· Warning
Warnings are displayed.
· Control
Messages about applications and services starting or stopping are displayed.
· Info
Information texts are displayed.
· Debug
Debugging information is displayed.
· Data
Detailed data is displayed.
Date
You can define the time frame for which you want to display log entries. The date is only restricted if the corresponding flag is set in front of the field.
Wildcards
· Column
You can restrict the search to particular applications, texts, parameters, or URIs. For example, if you enter subscription, you restrict the search to log entries that contain the character string 'subscription' in the class name.
· Principal
You can set this parameter so that only log entries for a particular user, group, or role are displayed. The display is only restricted if the Principal Name entry is activated on the Display tab page.
You can use the Display tab page to choose which information to display in the results list. Each option that you select corresponds to a column in the results list.
· Level
Displays the degree of information that you can define on the Filters tab page.
· Date
Displays the time of the entry.
· Principal Name
Displays the name of the system user.
· Expiration
Displays the time at which the entry is deleted from the application log.
· Application
Displays the application that created the entry.
· Text
Displays a message text.
· Parameters
Displays parameters that contain further information on the logged event.
· Original URI
Displays the original URI of the resource in question.
· Current URI
Displays the current URI of the resource in questions (the original URI has been changed).
· Two Column Format
If you activate this option, the entries are displayed divided into two columns.
· Entries per Page
You can use this to define the number of rows to be displayed on the page.
You can use the Download tab page to download the results list for further evaluation on a local data carrier. To do this, choose Download.

The application log is stored in the database. The size of the application log cannot be modified.
To call up the application log, choose System Administration ® Monitoring ® Knowledge Management ® Application Log.
You can modify the display of the application log using Show Options. You can also refresh the display.
