Function documentation Item Dependencies  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In this iView, you can see the current item dependencies, create new item dependencies and delete item dependencies you no longer need. You can also see other items that depend on the current item. In the Dependency Type column, you can see the dependency type of the current item dependencies, as well as the items that depend on the current item.

You navigate to this view, by choosing Portfolio Management. In the item dashboard, click any item, choose Dependencies.

Features

You use the dependency dashboard to create up a dependency relationship between two items, by setting a dependency type between the predecessor and the successor.

The following kinds of dependency types exists:

·        Finish-to-Finish: You must finish the processing of the predecessor item before you can finish the processing of the successor item.

·        Finish-to-Start: You must finish the processing of the predecessor item before you can start the processing of the successor item.

·        Start-to-Start: You must start the processing of the predecessor item before you can start the processing of the successor item.

·        Start-to-Finish: You must start the processing of the predecessor item before you can finish the processing of the successor item.

Activities

Creation of New Dependency

You can create a new dependency from the dependency dashboard, by choosing Create New.

Deletion

From the dependency dashboard, you can delete dependencies that are no longer required. To do this, select the item, choose Delete and then confirm the delete action.

 

Example

You want to upgrade the hardware and software of your corporate laptops.

...

       1.      You create the items Laptop Purchase and Upgrade of Software. You must first carry out the laptop purchase (predecessor) before you can upgrade the software (successor).

       2.      You choose Upgrade of Software as your current item.

       3.      You create an item dependency with the dependency type Finish-to-Start and then choose the predecessor Laptop Purchase.
