Alias 

Definition

The alias concept allows the same object to have several enterprise-specific names. This can be useful if different companies are participating in one collaboration in which one object has more than one name.

Use

All alias actions are performed in the Work Area detail screen for your actual area. You first have to define an alias for the area in the detail screen. You need administration authorization for the work area to create or change an alias. Once you have defined the alias and assigned the required object types to it, any user with write authorization for the object can define a label (that is, the individual name) for it. You define the label in the detail screen for the object. Deleting the alias also deletes all labels assigned to it.

Example

For example, company A may call an assembly a “grouping" and company B may call an assembly a "construct".
