Installation Without TREX: Hiding the Search Field 

Use

The Search and Classification Engine (TREX) enables the use of the search feature within Knowledge Management. If TREX is not installed, you cannot use the search feature, but the search field is nevertheless visible above the top-level navigation in the portal. Optionally, you can hide the search field.

Prerequisites

TREX is not installed and you do not intend to install it.

Procedure

To hide the search field:

       1.      Choose Content Administration  ® Portal Content.  

       2.      Choose Portal Content  ® Content Provided By SAP  ®  End User Content  ®  Standard Portal Users. Double-click Default Framework Page.

       3.       On the Default Framework tab, select Page Content and Tool Area. Then click Open.

       4.      In the Property Editor – Tool Area, select Show All for the Property Category field. Scroll down to Enable KM Search and Enable KM Search Advanced. Select No for both these entries and then click Save.

The search engine field remains visible until the cache validity expires and you refresh the Portal. To find out how long it takes for the cache to expire, see the entry for the Cache Validity Period in the Property Editor Tool - Area. If Cache Validity Period  is not visible, select Show All for the Property Category field.
