Function documentation Indexing Monitor Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The indexing monitor provides information on the status of running indexing processes. You can monitor them and intervene if necessary.

Integration

When you click the name of an index in the indexing monitor, an iView that displays both the crawler monitor and the TREX monitor opens. Both monitors display only information about the selected index. All other information is hidden.

For more information about both monitors, see Crawler Monitor and TREX Monitor.

Features

Indexes available in the system are displayed in the indexing monitor in a table. The following information is displayed for each index:

Entries in the indexing monitor

Entry

Description

Status

Displays the current status of indexing.

Green circle: Indicates no errors.

Yellow triangle: Indicates warnings.

For example, a warning appears if a reindexing run has been started but no crawling tasks have been initiated yet.

A warning can also be issued for a small number of errors. You should then evaluate the information displayed in the crawler monitor and TREX monitor. You can call up both monitors by clicking the index ID.

Red square: The indexing run has resulted in too many errors. You should then evaluate the information displayed in the crawler monitor and TREX monitor. You can call up both monitors by clicking the index ID.

The quick information for each icon contains more information about the statuses.

You can use the Status selection box to display only those indexes with a particular status.

Activities

To call up the indexing monitor, choose System Administration ® Monitoring ® Knowledge Management ® Indexing Monitor.

You can use the following functions:

Function

Description

Suspend

This function interrupts indexing. Running crawling tasks and the processing of the TREX queue are suspended.

You can continue indexing at any point by choosing Reactivate.

Reactivate

You can use this function to continue an interrupted indexing run at the point at which you interrupted it.

Stop

You use this function to stop running crawling tasks, thereby terminating the indexing run.

If there are already documents in the TREX queue when you stop the task, the system indexes these. The status display changes to Stopped only after indexing of these documents has been completed.

You cannot reactivate an indexing that has been stopped. However, you can choose the functions Reindex and Incremental Update.

Reindex

You can rebuild the index (see Reindexing and Incremental Update).

Incremental update

You can update the index (see Reindexing and Incremental Update).

Note

The chosen functions are started after a short time delay.

You can also execute certain functions directly in the crawler monitor, TREX monitor, or in the index administration area.

To update the display, choose Refresh. You can also arrange for the screen display to be updated automatically. To do this, choose your required interval from the selection box Automatic Update.
