Function documentation Adding Objects as a Delta Link Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

If an object is added to a role or workset as a delta link, this means:

The object in the structure hierarchy of a role or workset (target object) is linked with the source object by a link. This means that both objects (the source and the target objects in the role) do not exist independently of each other. The dependency is always in the direction source object -> target object.

The objects in the structure hierarchy of a role or workset (target objects) can be changed within the role. For example, entries can be deleted or added in linked worksets. Properties of iViews and pages can be changed. These changes have no effect on the source object.

If the source object to which the target object links is changed, these changes are copied by the target object. For example, if you change the properties of an iView, the changed properties are transferred to all the iViews that were derived from this iView.

For more information see Structure linkDelta Links and Structure linkInheriting Properties.

       1.      Open the role or workset in the respective editor.

       2.      Select the folder in the hierarchy of the role or workset to which you want to add an object.

       3.      In the tree structure of the Portal Catalog, right-click the object that you want to add to the role or workset and choose Add <Object> to Role/Workset ® Delta Link.

The object is added to the roles or workset.

Caution

You can only see whether an object was added as a copy or as a delta link in the properties of the linked object. The property list of an object shows if it is a delta link and the target object to which it points (this is the source object).
