A Point Of Sale Transaction is a business activity that is performed in a retail store, usually at the point of sale.

A point of sale transaction can refer to any of the following:

  • retail transaction

  • financial transaction

  • inventory movement transaction

  • control transaction

  • summary transaction

Business Context and Use

This business object enables you to send retail, financial, and goods movement transactions that are performed in a retail store to SAP POS DM. Once in SAP POS DM, transactions can be analyzed, aggregated and forwarded to subsequent processes.

Constraints and Integrity Conditions

Currently, inventory transactions and summary transactions are not supported in the service operations.

Notes on SAP Implementation

To use the Point Of Sale Transaction business object:

  • SAP POS DM must be configured for use according to the business requirements of the customer

  • You must be using the BW-BCT-ISR-PIP application component

  • You must be using one of the following software components:

    • SAP NW 7.0 BI Content Add-On 7.07, or higher

    • SAP NW 7.3 BI Content Add-On 7.37, or 7.47, or higher
