You can install SAP POS in any of the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian. If you wish to change the main store language after it has been set, or add other languages to your system, you can use the parameters in the Xpress Languages screen to do this.

Note Note

The system does not support switching from a non-English language to Russian, or vice versa if that language does not share the same code page as Russian.

The first language in the list is the main store language. Any languages appearing beneath the first language are additional languages which the system supports. You can choose another language to be the main store language by moving it up to the first position in the list.

Description

Identifier

The first language (with ID=1) is the main store language.

Subsequent languages (ID=2, 3, 4) define alternate languages that can be selected by store employees.

Directory/File Name

Defines the name of the languages literal file as well as the directory name for language parameters (except for ID # 1)

Example Example

Using the following configuration as an example (LANGUAGE.ASC) the following parameter directories are used:

  • English (ID=1)\Program Files\SAP\Retail Systems\Xpress Server\parm

  • French\Program Files\SAP\Retail Systems\Xpress Server\parm\FRENCH

  • Spanish\Program Files\SAP\Retail Systems\Xpress Server\parm\SPANISH

  • German\Program Files\SAP\Retail Systems\Xpress Server\parm\GERMAN

Language Code

The ISO code for a language

Download to Store

Indicates that parameter files supporting use of the language are downloaded to the store. This allows the user interface to be switched to this language.
