Preparation of WebDAV Client for Windows-Based Document Processing
A locally installed WebDAV client is a prerequisite for processing Records Management files and documents in the Internet browser. The WebDAV client makes folders from the repository of an SAP system available as a drive on the work center computers. This enables users to edit the content of an integrated folder from the SAP system in Windows using the functions available there. Communication with the server is done using the WebDAV protocol.
Note
SAP currently supports the WebDAV client SAP NetWeaver Portal Drive for the Windows-based processing of Records Management files and documents. The name reflects the designation of this client for desktop integration of portal documents. However, its wider application is to make folders from the store of an external system available locally in Windows.
Before you can use the WebDAV client for Records Management files and documents, you must install and configure it on your (or the user's) PC.
Make sure that you have a service user for SAP Service Marketplace.
Go to SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com.
Choose .
Enter the search term Portal Drive and start the search.
Select the download file from the relevant entry in the search results (for example, PORTAL DRIVE WEBDAV CLIENT), and load this to the local PC.
Install the WebDAV client on the PC.
For more information, see the installation guide for the Portal Drive at .
Note
The information relating to SAP NetWeaver Portal in the installation guide is not relevant in this case.
Familiarize yourself with the features of the WebDAV client Portal Drive.
For more information, see the documentation for the Portal Drive under Personalizing the Portal Drive.
On the interface of the WebDAV client, choose .
Enter a meaningful service name.
Enter a service URL for access to the Records Management repository.
The syntax of the URL is as follows: http(s)://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/ecm/dav/rm/<rm_bereich>/<rm_id>.
The parts of the URL are described below:

Protocol |
You do not have to enter the protocol http, since the system uses it automatically. If you want to use the https protocol, you have to specify this explicitly. |

You can use transaction SM51 to determine the server/port: Select the relevant server and choose and for the relevant service . Transaction SMICM provides you with an overview of the protocol, the service name/port, and the host name. End of the note. |
Service path |
Path to the ICF service, default sap/bc/ecm/dav |
Repository |
The constant rm stands for the Records Management repository. |
Identification of folder in the RM repository |
To address a folder in the Records Management repository, the URL must contain the RM area and the corresponding RMS ID. |
Enter the user name. If Single Sign-On is to be used to access the system, leave the field blank.
