The connectivity option described below only represents one half of a complete connectivity option, where a business system connected to the Integration Server using the RNIF Adapter could play the role of the sender system or the receiver system or both.

Usage

The RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) Adapter is used for sending messages between the Integration Server and a RosettaNet-compliant system by transforming the Exchange Infrastructure (XI) message format into RosettaNet message format and vice versa.

Description

A RosettaNet-compliant system is connected to the Integration Server using the RNIF Adapter for message exchange.

When receiving a message from the RosettaNet-compliant system, the RNIF Adapter transforms the message protocol into a message protocol (XI) that is understood by the Integration Server and sends the message to the Integration Server for further processing.

To send a message from XI to a receiving RosettaNet-compliant system, the RNIF Adapter accepts the message from the Integration Server, transforms the message protocol from XI to PIP message protocol, and sends the message to the RosettaNet-compliant system.

Example

The RNIF Adapter of an Integration Server reads a PIP message file from a third-party RosettaNet compliant system. This message is then converted into an XML message and processed by the Integration Engine.
