Apart from the standard usage profiles available in the ES Builder, you can also create ones of your own. You can create a usage profile when:

  • You want to define or restrict the set of objects types, software component versions and modeling filters a user (or user group) is allowed to work with.

  • You want a user (or user group) to view and work with only a set of objects based on their usage. This also helps to impose restrictions for the user.

More information: Usage Profile

Note Note

  • Only system administrators can create or edit usage profiles and assign authorizations.

  • You can not edit usage profiles of underlying software component versions.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

To create or use the standard usage profiles delivered by SAP, you should import the software component version SAP BASIS 7.11 or higher content into the ES Repository.

Procedure

If you want to create a usage profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the main menu of Enterprise Services Builder, choose   Object   New  .

The Create Object dialog box is displayed.

  2. Expand the Work Areas node and select Usage Profile.

  3. Enter a name for the usage profile.

  4. Enter a software component version.

Call the input help to select the software component version.

  5. Choose Create.

The Edit Usage Profile editor is displayed.

  6. To assign an ARIS filter to the usage profile, select a filter from the Filter for Business Modeling field.

  7. On the Software Components tab page, select the software component versions for which you want to assign the usage profile.

If you want to assign this usage profile to all the software component versions, select Allow All Software Component Versions. If you select this checkbox, all the software component versions created in future will also be included.

  8. On the Objects Types tab page, select the objects that should be visible or editable to the users. All objects are selected by default.

If you select the objects under the Visible option, then you can only view these objects, but not edit them. If you want to view and edit the objects, then select the objects under the Editable option.

  9. Select Save.

  10. You should activate the usage profile in the change list to start using it.

  11. The new usage profile appears under the Configuration node in the navigation pane.

  12. You can assign a user, group, or role to this usage profile.
