This graphic is explained in the accompanying text How to work with models in column/row display  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Compared to models displayed in a different representation, models in column/row display offer additional structuring options.

What are the advantages of column/row display?

The column/row display makes the models easier to view. In PCDs, for example, each object type has its own column, which makes complex models easier to read.

When objects are created, relationships will automatically be created between specific object types. These relationships are not generated as visible relationships (connections), but as invisible relationships. As the creation of objects implies that corresponding invisible relationships will be created between them automatically, these are called implicit relationships.

What significance do the lines have?

Lines separate columns and rows. You can move the lines.

The insertion of certain objects into certain columns or lines in some models is restricted for methodical reasons. The mouse pointer will take the shape of a prohibitory sign, when you try to place an object into a column or row that is not allowed by the method.

Procedure

How to insert columns/rows

       1.      Move the mouse pointer to the row/column margin and click with the right mouse button.

       2.      Click on Add column/row. If you may not add any more rows or columns to a model, you will receive a corresponding message.

       3.      Select the name of the column/row you want to add.

       4.      Click on OK.

How to delete columns/rows

       5.      Move the mouse pointer to the row/column margin and click with the right mouse button.

       6.      Click on Delete column/row. If you try to delete a column/row that is required in a model, you will receive a corresponding message; the column/row will not be deleted.

How to move columns/rows

While all relevant model items are moved when space is inserted or removed, only the object occurrences are moved when the column/row size is changed. The following description does also apply to rows.

       7.      Click on the column you want to move and hold the mouse button down.

       8.      Drag the mouse pointer into the direction to which you want to move the column.

       9.      When the insertion triangle is positioned between the columns where you want to place the column, release the mouse button.

How to change the column or row width/height

To reduce or increase the column width, move the right line of the desired column into the corresponding direction. To change the row height, move the bottom line of the desired row into the corresponding direction. The width of the remaining columns/rows will not change.

How to maintain relationships automatically

When creating objects that can enter into corresponding relationships with one another, the implicit relationships will be generated automatically.

Result

The content of the model is prepared by means of the additional structuring options of columns/rows.
