Configuring System Resources for QOUT Scheduler 

Number of Connections for Each Destination

You can set up the maximum number of permitted connections for each destination. Using this setting you can control resource consumption, that is, the amount of work processes used by qRFC with regard to the number of work processes available in the whole system.

The value for the maximum number of connections is set in the registration of a destination. There are two ways that this can be registered:

●      Automatic: The destinations used in SMQS are automatically registered during a tRFC and qRFC call. The maximum number of connections is set in this case in the following way:

○       Target system is an SAP system: Maximum 10 connections

○       Target system in an external tRFC/qRFC program: Maximum 1 connection

 

You can of course change the default setting manually.

These settings values also apply for a collective restart using report RSARFCEX for tRFC, or report RSQOWKEX for qRFC with outbound queue.

●      Manual: If you manually register a destination that has not previously been registered then you can enter the number of connections of your choice. 

 

Note that these values always depend upon the complete number of dialog work processes defined in transaction RZ12.  Therefore ensure that there are enough dialog work processes available in the local (sending) and receiving systems.

Specifying Server Groups

For the QOUT Scheduler you can determine which application servers (AS) can be used for queue processing by assigning an RFC server group.  A group of application servers (AS) can be defined using transaction RZ12 and be assigned to the outbound scheduler using transaction SMQS. The scheduler will then only use the application servers assigned in the server group to process the LUWs.

To assign server groups, proceed as follows:

       1.      Execute transaction RZ12.

       2.      Choose a suitable server group or define one, if required.

       3.      Specify suitable resource values for the server group.

       4.      Save your entries.

       5.      Execute transaction SMQS.

       6.      In the menu select Edit → Change AS Group and enter the required server group.

       7.      Save your entry.
