Purpose

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI) provides Runtime Workbench as a tool for monitoring an individual PI installation. The Runtime Workbench runs on the Integration Server, and allows the monitoring of distributed PI components, such as local Advanced Adapter Engines or proxy runtimes from SAP business systems.

You can start the Runtime Workbench from the PI start page of your Integration Server (http://<host>:<port>/dir) under Configuration and Monitoring Runtime Workbench.

Caution

SAP NetWeaver Administrator for PI and all monitoring tools it includes are not supported for use in production scenarios. We recommend to use Runtime Workbench for PI monitoring in production scenarios. The information provided here about SAP NetWeaver Administrator for PI is only for reference.

For more information, see SAP notes 1446507 and 1247043.

Integration

·        The central tool for monitoring the integration processes in your landscape is the PI Monitoring dashboard in Technical Monitoring Work Center in SAP Solution Manager. When you find there that certain processes or messages on a particular engine should be reviewed more thoroughly, you can navigate to the corresponding local monitor.

·        The Runtime Workbench enables you to navigate to the monitoring functions of the Integration Engine, as well as integrate with the SAP Computing Center Management System (CCMS), and the SAP Process Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI).

CCMS and PMI can be configured on a central monitoring server (CEN). For more information about central monitoring with CCMS, see Monitoring Setup Guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 under service.sap.com/operationsNW70 Monitoring.

·        You can also access specific PI monitoring functions by using the SAP NetWeaver Administrator of your local AS Java, for example, to monitor a non-central Advanced Adapter Engine or Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK). You start the local SAP NetWeaver Administrator with the URL http://<host>:<port>/nwa.

Note

The Advanced Adapter Engine will be referred to simply as the Adapter Engine in the remainder of this document.
