Adding Services and Resources in ACC
You use this procedure to add services and resources in the adaptive computing landscape and make them available for performing operations in ACC.
There are three different ways in which you can add services and resources:
Scenario |
Action |
1. Detect services and resources available in the landscape and add them to the ACC. |
ACC directly communicates with the instance agent / host agent to retrieve the services and resources information from the landscape. The retrieved information is available in the Services and Resources configuration tab pages. The detected services and resources are directly available to perform operations without any further configuration. |
2. Import the services and resources configuration data |
Reuse the service/resource configuration data by importing the configuration data into ACC. There is no need to register the services in SLD before importing the exported data. You can also register new services/resources through import during the trainings or through consultants. |
3. Set up SLD Data Supplier |
If you are using other monitoring tools along with ACC that rely on SLD data, you have to set up the SLD Data supplier. Set up the SLD Data Supplier for the ABAP and Java managed systems. The managed system sends data into SLD via the SLD Data Suppliers. ACC consumes this data from the SLD and makes the services/resources available for configuration in ACC.
The detect service functionality can detect systems of different types; whereas the system types supported by the SLD configuration is limited. Hence we recommend you to use the detect service functionality. End of the note. |
The following prerequisite is applicable only if you are importing the configuration data:
You must have exported the configuration data already in the form of an XML file and saved the file in any preferred directory.
More information: Exporting ACC Configuration Settings
The following prerequisites are applicable only if you are setting up the SLD data supplier:
You must have configured SLD during NetWeaver Administrator installation.
More information: see SAP Service Marketplace at
You must ensure that the systems are virtualized (running on virtual hostnames).
All the instances (CI, APP, SCS, and so on) of an application service must be up and running during the registration.
In the Configuration tab page, choose Services Configuration.
Choose Detect Services.
In the Hostname field, enter the name of the host on which you want to detect the services.
Choose Detect Services to start the detection.
Note
If you notice the detection failure message in the screen, choose View Detection Issues.
Note
It is not always possible to find all the services that belong to a system in one step. For example, it is not possible to find a TREX that belongs to a given system by detecting one host agent. Hence, if you want to detect a complete system set, you may need to perform detection on multiple host agents.
Choose Select Services.
Select the Services to be assigned to a system.
Enter the hostname in the New Hostname field.
Choose Next.
From the Known Systems area, select the required system in the System field if you want to add the detected service to a new system.
To assign the selected services to a new system, modify or supplement the corresponding properties in the System Properties area.
If you want to perform relocate operation on the services, select the check box AC Managed across the services.
Choose Save.
In the Configuration tab page, choose Resource Configuration.
Choose Detect Resource.
In the Hostname field, enter the host name on which you want to detect the resources.
Note
To detect resources in more than one host, you need to do multiple detections by entering different host names.
Choose Next.
Select the resources.
Choose Save.
In the Configuration tab page, choose Import All.
Select the exported XML file from the browser location and choose Load Configuration Data.
Choose Map Services.
Select the services that you want to manage in ACC.
By default you can see that all the services are selected.
Choose Map Resources.
Select the resources that you want to assign to the services.
By default you can see that all the resources are selected.
Choose Networks.
Select the required Network details.
Choose Pools.
Select the required pool details.
Choose User/Password Settings.
Note
The Users and Passwords are related to the host agents, instance agents and the database configuration. When the import file does not contain the passwords details of the users, you can set a password to the user.
To set a single password to all the imported users, choose option Set 1 single password to all the imported users.
Choose Summary to view the details of the services, resources, network, and the pool details that are imported.
Set up the SLD Data Supplier for different systems as required:

After setting up the SLD data supplier, you have to configure the services and resources in ACC to perform operations on the services.
