Procedure documentationUsing Namespaces to Test Data Locate this document in the navigation structure

The component and system landscape description contain current information about your system landscape. Using SLD simulations, you can also plan a future system landscape. We recommend that you test simulations in a different area to the current system landscape.

The namespace concept of the SLD allows you to create various namespaces as logical areas. The sld/active namespace mirrors the real system landscape. When you create a new namespace, it is initially empty. To create a duplicate of a namespace for test purposes, back up the content of the source namespace (see Backing Up CIM Instances) and import it to the target namespace (see Updating the Software Catalog).

Procedure

Choose   Administration   Namespaces  .

Creating Namespaces
  1. Choose Add.

    A dialog box appears.

  2. In the Namespace field, enter a name of the new namespace.

  3. Choose Add.

Switching Between Namespaces
  1. From the table with namespaces, select the namespace to which you want to switch.

The system switches to the namespace you have selected.

    Note Note

You can switch between namespaces on all other screens on which a namespace switch is relevant. The current namespace is displayed at the top of each screen.

    End of the note.

    Note Note

The namespace could be reset to sld/active after some time. Check for the correct namespace before each critical operation such as delete.

    End of the note.
Deleting Namespaces
  1. From the Namespaces column, select the namespace you want to delete.

The system switches to the namespace you have selected.

  2. Choose Remove <namespace>.

    Caution Caution

The system deletes the namespace, including all its data.

    End of the caution.
Deleting Namespace Instances

Caution Caution

The system deletes permanently all instances of the namespace you selected. Make a backup copy of the instances, before you delete any instances permanently. For more information, see Backing Up CIM Instances.

End of the caution.
  1. From the Namespaces column, select the namespace whose instances you want to delete.

The system switches to the namespace you have selected.

  2. Choose Remove Instances.
