This topic relates to the import of permissions to a portal after you have exported the permission structure from the source portal (see Exporting Permissions). Upon import to the target portal, the permissions of each object declared in the XML are only processed on if the object already exists in the portal, otherwise it is ignored. The import mechanism behaves as follows:

  • The current permission settings for objects in the portal, which are declared in the XML file, are deleted.

  • The current permission settings for objects in the portal, which are not declared in the XML file, are not deleted.

Prerequisites

  • XML file containing the permission structure exported from a source system.

  • The target portal is populated with the correct content.

Procedure

Use the XML Copy and Action tool to import the permissions XML file to the target portal. For information, see XML Content and Actions.
