Monitoring Portal Availability

To monitor portal availability (using the portal heartbeat of the Portal Runtime) in SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE) 7.1, you need to use a central monitoring system with a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 installation.

For more information about configuring the Generic Request and Message Generator (GRMG) in a centrally monitored CE and setting up portal monitoring, go to SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/operationsNW70 Monitoring. Refer to the Monitoring Setup Guide (use the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS13 version or later) and read the following sections:

Monitoring SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE) 7.1.

Monitoring the Portal on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1

Monitoring the PCD Cache

You can use the Java Systems Reports tool in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator to monitor the cache of the Portal Content Directory (PCD).

More information: Monitoring the PCD Cache

Note

Do not use the predefined service monitor, called Portal, currently available in the Java Systems Reports tool.

Once you have activated the PCD Cache monitor in SAP NetWeaver Administrator, you can also use Computing Center Management System (CCMS) with a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 installation to view the monitor.
