Finding and Replacing Portal Properties
The Find and Replace wizard enables you to modify the properties of multiple portal objects simultaneously.
Example
To change the authentication scheme for several iViews from default to anonymous, you would call up the wizard and choose any number of folders, roles or pages that contain the relevant iViews. For search criteria, you could enter either the default property value or the AuthScheme property ID (this is the ID of the Authentication Scheme property). In the replacement value, you would enter anonymous. After confirming which objects and properties you want changed, the wizard modifies the relevant properties for you in a single action.
If used incorrectly, the wizard can irreversibly damage an entire portal or parts of it. Before you use the wizard, make sure you read and understand these instructions completely.
Before executing a property replacement in an object, you should determine if the current property value is inherited from another source object or is defined locally in the object itself. Applying local changes to a property in a delta link object breaks the inheritance between that object and its source for the modified property only. In certain cases, you may prefer to change an object higher in the delta link chain to maintain the property inheritance. Modifying the properties of an object also affects dependent objects in the delta link chain. More information: Tracing Delta Link Dependencies.
To view objects in the result set, you must have at least administrator read permissions for each object. To change the properties of an object, you must have at least administrator read/write permissions for each object.
More information: Permission Levels.
In the Search For area, choose Find & Replace.
In the content area, define your search criteria by entering one or more of the following properties:
Name
Description
ID
Note
If you select more than one criteria, the search results will contain a property that is identified by any one of the specified criteria. Wildcards are permitted in your search criteria.
To make your search criteria case-sensitive, select the Case Sensitive check box.
To include templates in your search, select the Include templates check box.
Use the following filters to refine your search:
To limit the search to a specific top-level folder, from the Search In dropdown list, select the folder in which you want to search.
To limit the search to a lower-level folder, right-click the folder in the Portal Catalog, and choose Search in Folder.
To limit the search to a specific object type, in the Object Type dropdown list, select an object type.
To select more than one object type, choose Multiple Object Types, and in the Select Object Types dialog box, hold down the CTRL key and select the object types from the list.
Specify a limitation on the amount of time the search is conducted by specifying a timeout in the Approximate Timeout (seconds) box. When an approximation of the specified amount of time elapses, the search tool stops searching for results. The default time is 30 seconds.
To add one or more property-based filters to the search results:
In the Property-based Filter area, choose Add Row, and then choose the browse button.
In the Select Properties dialog box, select a property from the Object Properties dropdown list.
