You plan availability times for communication channels to enable them to be started and stopped automatically instead of manually.
You are in communication channel monitoring and have the authorizations for the modify action for the sap.com/com.sap.xi.mdt*mdt application.
To schedule the automatic control of communication channels, choose Availability Time Planning in the communication channel monitor. All availability times that have already been defined are displayed with the following specifications:

You can now create further availability times, or change or delete existing availability times. You can also copy existing availability times and adapt them accordingly.
You usually define the required availability times and then specify the communication channels for which the defined times are to apply.
Schedule your availability times as follows:

1. In the Availability Time field, select the recurrence interval for the new availability time and then choose Create.
2. On the Details tab page, make the necessary time specifications, enter a suitable description, and activate the scheduled times, if required.
If the scheduled availability time is not one-time, but recurs (for example, daily), the scheduled availability times are displayed individually. You can exclude such individual availability times explicitly and, if necessary, reschedule them.
3. To select the communication channels for which you want to schedule the availability time, select the Communication Channels tab page.
You can select the required communication channels by using a selection filter. The availability time then applies to all selected channels. You can remove individual channels from this selection from the planning. If you create new channels at a later time that are covered by this filter, the availability time is also relevant for these channels.
The number of communication channels that are currently affected by the availability time, as well as the number of excepted channels, is displayed in the message line.
As an alternative to a filter-based selection list, you can use an explicit list to assign communication channels to the availability time. To do this, use a filter to display a list of channels, then assign channels from the list to the availability time manually. The availability time then applies to all channels in this explicit list. You can remove individual channels from the list.
4. Save the scheduled availability times.
The following are typical cases where you would like to change a scheduled availability time:
● You want to change the availability times and would like this change to be applied to all affected communication channels.
● You want to extend or restrict the affected communication channels for a defined availability time.
● You want to change the availability times and the affected communication channels.
Proceed as follows:

1. In availability time planning, select a scheduled availability time and choose Change.
2. If required, change the scheduled availability times on the Details tab page.
You cannot change the frequency of the scheduled availability time.
3. Select the Communication Channels tab page and, if required, change the communication channels selected by a filter or by an explicit list.
If you want to display the availability times scheduled for an automatically controlled communication channel, proceed as follows:

1. Select the required channel from the list of displayed communication channels.
2. Choose the Availability Times tab.
The relevant availability times are displayed for the specified time period.
3. In the Description column, select the required availability time.
This takes you to availability time planning. The availability time you have chosen is selected and displayed in detail.
If you want to change the availability time at this point, remember that changes will not only affect the selected communication channel, but all communication channels that are selected for this availability time on the Communication Channels tab page.
4. If you want to view when the selected availability time was last changed, and by whom, select the Log tab page.
